Jagex has provided a new preview of the RuneScape API project, highlighting ongoing development and showcasing additional community-made plugins. The project aims to empower community developers to create tools and enhancements for the game, moving beyond Jagex's internal development of every feature. This update focuses on significant progress made on the Quest Helper plugin and introduces the Clue Trainer plugin, which is being integrated into the official API ecosystem.
Quest Helper Progress
The Quest Helper plugin, first revealed in a previous update, continues to evolve from a proof of concept into an in-game questing companion. Developers have been steadily adding support for more quests, with the goal of providing clear, contextual guidance directly within the game. This means players can navigate quests, solve puzzles, and advance storylines without needing to consult external guides. The team has also identified and addressed areas where additional engine support was necessary, particularly for complex quests like Broken Home, to ensure the plugin can handle intricate game mechanics. The Quest Helper team, including Zoinkwiz, JostheFarmer, and TechPure, is focused on building a stronger foundation and expanding the number of supported quests.
When the plugin was initially revealed, it supported three quests. Since then, the team has been reviewing existing quest helper resources to integrate that information into the new plugin's format. While there is still work to be done, the foundations are becoming more robust, and the plugin is continuously expanding its quest coverage.
Introducing Clue Trainer
A new plugin, Clue Trainer, is being brought into the official API project. Developed by Zyklop Marco and Ngis, Clue Trainer is designed to assist both new and experienced players with clue scrolls. It offers interactive overlays, optimized movement strategies, and real-time puzzle assistance to enhance the clue-solving experience. Clue Trainer has already gained popularity, with over a thousand daily users, and is now being integrated into the official plugin framework. The developers aim for the official release to have feature parity with the existing version, including puzzle solvers, compass triangulation, and scan solving using decision trees, all informed by years of community-developed strategies.
