RuneScape has announced "RuneScape Reignited," a new permanent character type set to launch on December 2nd. This initiative aims to provide a fresh experience for both new and returning players by introducing a distinct economy and separate highscores. The announcement, made during RuneFest 2026, positions Reignited as the culmination of efforts throughout 2026 to rebuild and restore the game.

Reignited characters will exist within the same game worlds as existing characters, referred to as "Veterans," but will operate under different rules. A core aspect of this new character type is the absence of paid progression. Additionally, Reignited characters will have their own dedicated Grand Exchange, separate from the Veteran Grand Exchange, and will not be able to trade with Veteran characters. However, Reignited characters can trade with other Reignited characters.

A Fresh Start and New Challenges

The introduction of Reignited characters is designed to offer a level playing field, akin to a new game launch, but with the benefit of RuneScape's 25 years of content. Players creating a Reignited character will experience an economy that is not influenced by the existing, long-established Veteran economy. This could mean certain materials that are abundant for Veteran players might be scarcer for Reignited players, creating new opportunities for resource gathering and crafting.

To celebrate the launch, all Reignited characters will receive free access to members' content for the first ten days following the December 2nd release. This allows new players to explore the full breadth of the game from the outset. Furthermore, Reignited characters will be able to form or join clans and homesteads with Veteran characters, fostering community interaction despite the economic separation. However, they will not be able to share boss instances.

The Hall of Legends

A new feature called "The Hall of Legends" will be introduced alongside Reignited. This system aims to immortalize players who achieve "world first" accomplishments within the Reignited ecosystem. Those who secure such feats will be represented by a permanent statue in the Hall of Legends, showcasing their character and achievement. This provides a new avenue for players to distinguish themselves and leave their mark on RuneScape's history.
